Vet School Prep

Pre-vet club students are able to obtain knowledge to help them prepare their route for vet school and how to craft their application. This knowledge is taught by a variety of experts in the veterinary field including research professionals, wildlife veterinarians, aquatic veterinarians, small and large animal veterinarians, and specialty doctors. Understanding the veterinary world as a whole has proven to help students determine which direction of veterinary medicine is right for them.

We also offer classes to members to learn things that wouldn’t be taught in typical undergraduate courses. This small classroom instruction has taught students things such as proper canine CPR techniques, how to suture a wound, and resume building. These types of classes are a great way for students to learn hands-on while also networking with other students and the course professor.

Another incentive to participate in the Pre-Veterinary Club includes our Active Member Spreadsheet. When a member completes all the active member requirements, they are added to this spreadsheet that is sent to the vet school board of admissions each semester. While this is not a direct entry to Mississippi State School of Veterinary Medicine, it is an indication to show the board that you have been an active participating member of the club.
